JOY AMERICA,
You are HOME.
I live a wild and bless-ed existence where important moments of life affirmation occur in the back of a pick up truck on the way to a swimming hole in the Ozarks. I am thankful for the people in my life, and particularly some who jumped in after this photo was snapped. (This photo was taken at the 2nd annual Meadowcreek Roundtable on cultural sustainability, rural arts + culture, and community-based folklife practice in Fox, AR.)
In other good, life-affirming news, I think I can announce that I’ve been hired to write a column on folk arts + Southern culture for the online magazine/journal The Art of the Rural. Gotta cook up a name for the column this week—send any fine ideas my way.
